TITANS OF THE 20th CENTURY is the first Piano Marathon at the Rites of Spring Music Festival presenting the music of the most powerful musical figures in the last century. TITANS OF THE 20th CENTURY is a wonderful program that will explore piano masterpieces of Darius Milhaud, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Leonard Bernstein, looking at how these composers' incorporated rhythm, impressionism, and eclecticism into their innovative works. The 20th century was a dynamic time for artists across the globe. New frontiers opened by aviation, recording technology, and telecommunications channeled to artists stimulating ideas and materials from all over the world. This rousing musical proposal presented by Rites of Spring Music Festival as the Avant premiere of the new season kicking off in May is the incredible result of joint forces with the Department of Music at Stony Brook University. Heartfelt thanks go to Tina Dahl, wonderful pianist and chairman of the Department of Music and Gil Kalish, professor of piano, legendary pianist and major figure in American music making. Eight young and talented pianists trained by Tina Dahl and Gil Kalish will give life to this piano marathon: Anna Vertypolokh, Jocelyn Lee, Brianna Tang, Owen Dodds, Jina Kim, Kyungwa Chu, Sunmi Han and Soo Yeon Cho, Lara Saldanha and Muli Yu.
