Songs & Stories in Concert featuring Susanna Phillips, soprano Tom Manuel, trumpet Steve Salerno, guitar at Jamesport Meeting House 1590 Main Rd, Jamesport, NY 11947 Sunday, September 8th, 2024, from 1:00pm - 3:00pm Music by Harry Warren Description Songs & Stories in concert is an intimate indoor concert featuring the exceptional soprano singer Susanna Phillips, the multi-talented Tom Manuel on cornet and the versatile guitarist Steve Salerno. They will present the life story and music career of Harry Warren. This is one of many stories of Italian immigrants to United States. Harry Warren was born Salvatore Antonio Guaragna, one of eleven children of Italian immigrants Antonio (a bootmaker) and Rachel De Luca Guaragna, and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. Harry Warren was an American composer and the first major American songwriter to write primarily for film. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song eleven times and won three Oscars for composing "Lullaby of Broadway", "You'll Never Know" and "On the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe". He wrote the music for the first blockbuster film musical, 42nd Street, choreographed by Busby Berkeley, with whom he would collaborate on many musical films.
