Opera Night Concert at Borghese Vineyard. A special event that combines songs, arias and operatic pieces presented by five young professional singers in an intimate indoor space at Borghese Vineyard. Rites of Spring Music Festival wants to empower, mentor and offer professional opportunities to young artists through specific activities. The New Talents for Change Fund support young artists not only artistically but also offering entrepreneurial and adaptive skills. The singers are accompanied at the piano by the young talent Katherine Miller and by the artistic director of Rites of Spring, Paolo Bartolani. Program

Soprano Shuqi Yang is pursuing her doctor’s degree in Vocal Performance at Stony Brook University. She holds a master’s degree and a graduate diploma in Vocal Performance from New England Conservatory of Music. In China, she graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music with a master’s degree in Vocal Performance. Yang has been working with many world famous voice teachers including Brenda Harris, Carole Haber, Zheng Zhou and Xunmei Liu, among others. Yang is the Winner of 2022 Coeur d’Alene Symphony Orchestra national young artists’ competition. She is a finalist in the 2022 Neapolitan Masters Competition. She got first prize in London classical music competition held on Feb 21st, 2022. Mheco Manlangit, soprano Born and raised in the Philippines, Soprano Mheco Manlangit finished a Bachelor of Music in Voice degree at the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Assoc. Prof. Eugene De Los Santos, D.M.A. She is a recent graduate of New York University’s Master of Music in Vocal Performance degree program under the guidance of Dr. Scott Murphree and Dr. Grant Wenaus. Currently, she works as Hudson Montessori School's choir director and splits her time as an active performing artist in New York and Manila. Heidi Schneider, soprano Heidi is am a uniquely talented doctoral candidate in the musical arts (D.M.A.) at Stony Brook University with 5+ years of diverse event-management experience. She is a professional Vocalist and Music Educator with a strong passion for connecting with the community through music. Hiedi also works in administration with The Forestburgh Playhouse. Creator of The Paper Soprano Podcast - a casual daily "chat" about music, singing, imposter syndrome, life as a grad student, occasional guest hosts, and a myriad of other anecdotal tidbits! Timothy McGowan, tenor Timothy McGowan is an American lyric tenor celebrated for his “dignified” stage presence, “sweet phrases,” and “lively gusto.” Timothy has credits ranging from traditional opera, and sacred music to contemporary works, and American Musical Theatre. He has had the opportunity to perform with a variety of esteemed festivals and organizations, including the San Diego Symphony, Utah Festival Opera & Musical Theatre, The Ohio Light Opera, Boston University Opera Institute, Odyssey Opera, Stony Brook Opera, Opera on the Rocks, Transgressive Theatre-Opera, The Palace Theatre in New Hampshire, and Seagle Festival, among others. Nicholas Mackey, tenor This is Nicholas's second time performing for the Rites of Spring Music Festival and he is very grateful to return. Nicholas is a graduate of Maryville College and East Carolina University. Most recently he has been performing with the North Fork Community Theater where he appeared as King Arthur in Spamalot. His last opera role was in 2022 where he played Chester A. Arthur in The Ballad of Baby Doe with East Carolina Opera Theater. Nicholas thanks Paolo Bartolani for inviting his to participate and his family for their continuing support. Jerome Boxer, baritone Jerome Boxer is a 20-year-old baritone hailing from New York City. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at Boston University, under the tutelage of James Demler. This past summer Jerome performed as Masetto in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” in Vienna with the Vienna Opera Academy. He’s returning from a semester abroad at the Royal College of Music where he studied with New Zealand bass-baritone Jonathan Lemalu. Katherine Miller, pianist Katherine is an active solo performer as well as chamber musician based in New York City. She has performed at some of the world’s most prestigious halls including the Weill , Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall as well as Boston’s Jordan Hall. Katherine has won numerous honors including NEC’s Piano Honors Competition, a prize in the American Protégé competition as well as many scholarships. Katherine earned her Bachelor of Music degree from New England Conservatory where she studied with Bruce Brubaker and her Master of Music degree from Mannes School of Music where she studied with Thomas Sauer. Other major teachers have included Arkady Aronov and Dina Khudayberdieva. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Music at Stony Brook University, studying with Christina Dahl. Paolo Bartolani, pianist Founder & Artistic Director of Rites of Spring Music Festival Paolo Bartolani is a pianist, musicologist and music manager, working in both classical and contemporary music. He founded the Rites of Spring Music Fest in 2016 to promote classical and contemporary music on the North Fork of Long Island, and to combine music, history and the natural environment. The Festival currently is a non-profit organization 501c3 and he is the Artistic Director and Responsible for developing the Festival’s program. |
